8) Soapstone Carvings at My Sister’s Place
My Sister’s Place is filled with ways to appreciate and connect to artists from around the world. These soapstone sculptures begin in the mountains of Western Kenya. Here the stone is mined, carved, painted, and etched by hand using techniques passed though generations. These sculptures are more than cute pieces to tuck into a stocking. Like many of the fair trade items found in this shop, proceeds allow the artists to break a cycle of generational poverty and use their skills to provide homes and education for their children. Purchase with Purpose!
9) Deluxe Apples at Hartville Chocolate Factory
We select fresh, crisp Granny Smith apples and cover them with our delicious homemade caramel. Then, we hand dip the apples in our fine milk chocolate and cover each one with fresh Georgia pecans. Finally, we drizzle each apple with milk, dark and white chocolate. We consider our “Deluxe Apples” to be a complete, balanced meal in and of itself. The apple is a fruit. The caramel is made with real butter and cream. The pecans are a great source of protein. And, well, chocolate comes from cacao beans and beans are a vegetable, so chocolate must also be a vegetable. It’s the perfect food! A great gift for hostesses. You can just see her cracking into this deliciousness before she tackles the post-party cleanup.
