Two memorable Lake Township homes will be open to visitors during the Lake Township Historical Society’s (LTHS) upcoming 2014 Home Tour, followed by an elegant “Some Enchanted Evening” fundraising dinner for the Historical Society at one of the homes. The two homes are both on Lake-O-Pines St., and are located across the street from one another.
The first, located at 1555 Lake-O-Pines, is one of Stark County’s largest private estates and includes a beautifully decorated multi-story contemporary home with a tower, expansive landscaped yard, large pond/swimming area with a fountain, and a gazebo on a small island in the pond that can be accessed via a walking bridge.
The second home, located at 1440 Lake-O-Pines St., N.E. is the Morgan Quest Farm, including a stately house and barn dating back to the early 1860’s. The homestead has stayed within the same family for three generations. Visitors viewing this home will be able to see original 1860’s-era plaster used to complete the house, as well as other unique architectural features.
The Home Tour will be from noon – 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Tickets will be available from all LTHS Trustees as well as the day of the tour at either home; visitors can also start their tour at either home. Cost for Home Tour tickets will be $10 per person.
A special LTHS fundraising dinner, Some Enchanted Evening, will follow the Home Tour and begin at 6 p.m. at the 1555 Lake-O-Pines residence. Plans call for an elegant, sit down, served meal to be provided, including light appetizers, entrée choices of either beef, chicken, or vegetarian, and dessert. Live entertainment will also be provided. Only 50 dining tickets will be sold; cost per person will be $50 per person for a general seating ticket, or $60 per person for one of the limited seats available at the island gazebo. (Persons purchasing a dinner ticket will also be able to view the home; if diners would like to view Morgan Quest Farm, they will need to purchase $10 Home Tour tickets separately and visit the farm during the earlier scheduled noon – 3p.m. hours.) Dinner reservations are required for Some Enchanted Evening, and can be made by calling LTHS Trustee Ruth Sturgill at 330-877-2625. Seats are limited, so do not delay in making your reservation! For more info, contact LTHS member Terry Benson at 330-699-3342.
