Music to Fill the Air at The Historic Downtown Hartville Art & Music Fest

Music of all kinds will fill the air at the Historic Downtown Hartville Art & Music Fest on August 9th. Seven acts will perform in two locations on Prospect Ave. and Howard Ct. The event is free and sponsored by the downtown merchants group and NeoFill with support from the Village of Hartville and the Lake Township Chamber of Commerce.

akron ceili band10-11: Akron Ceili Band Traditional Irish music using a variety of traditional and non-traditional instruments including fiddles, guitars, tin whistle, bass, and Irish drum. Ceili (pronounced KAY-lee) is a Gaelic word meaning “coming together”. Friends, family and neighbors coming together to celebrate an event or as a diversion from life’s troubles. What a great way to start your Saturday! During a portion of the performance, instruments will be provided for children to learn how to play and join in on a few songs. Christine Gingerich

10:30-noon: Christine Gingerich, vocalist Christine is a 2005 graduate of Malone University with a B.S. in Music Education, and a 2010 graduate of the University of Akron with a M.M. in Choral Conducting Performance. She has participated in numerous plays and musicals, including the role of Maria in “The Sound of Music,” Mary Ann Summers in “Gilligan’s Island” and Glinda in “The Wizard of Oz.” Christine will perform a variety of Christian and secular songs at the Mill St. Building.

11:30-12:30: Greased Lightning Get ready to tap your feet and dance with this fun group. Greased Lightning is a 50’s, 60’s to the 80’s DooWop and Rock and Roll dance and show band. The group features the talented Dianna McDowell, Jim Kitchen, Ken Burrer, Mark Robertson, Greg Gibson, Roger Szabo, and Pat Wagner on vocals, saxophone, guitar, bass, keyboard, and percussion.  greased lightning   doerr and drumm
Noon-1:30: Doerr and Drumm
Enjoy your lunch while listening to the guitar/hand drum duo of Dick Cooper and Ken Moore perform at the Mill St. Building. They play primarily classic rock on the softer side and include work from artists like Eric Clapton, Beatles, Who, Stones, Doors, Moody Blues and even get into a few Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson and some real classics by Beethoven or Gershwin.

12:30-1pm: La Pilarika Folklore Dance Folk dance is a defining element of the Hispanic culture. Twenty dancers from both Hartville Migrant Center and year round residents will perform Mexican dances in traditional dress on the patio next to the square. goodnight tonight1:00-2:00: Goodnight Tonight Pop Alternative Rock fans will love this group from Kent, Ohio. Joining Emily Gambone, Holly Camp, and Logan McNeal this summer is lead guitarist Drew Spreitzer. As 2013 Tri-C High School Rock Off champs, 2012 and 2014 Indie Music Channel’s Best Teen Band, Bestnewbands.com featured artist for July 2014, and fresh off playing The Warped Tour at Blossom Music Center, Goodnight Tonight is making news.  Check them out so you can say “I saw them when”!

1:30-3:00 Brittni R. Roach Brittni has performed with the Alliance Symphony, Tuscarawas Philharmonic and numerous small ensembles. She runs a local music studio, Musical Moments, teaching piano and violin lessons. She will be playing a mixture of classical, jazz, and contemporary for the fest. musical moments door3twenty 22:30-3:30: Door3Twenty This local favorite is influenced by a diverse group of genres from rock, country, blues, and contemporary Christian. They’ll perform Door3Twenty originals and covers by the likes of Sara Bareilles, Little Big Town, Grace Potter, Hillsong United, Dierks Bentley, and Journey.
