It has been nearly two decades since Hartville has celebrated Old Fashioned Day. On July 11th from 10am-3pm the Historic Downtown Hartville merchants group will revive the community favorite as the theme for the month’s Second Saturday street festival.
The historic district provides the perfect backdrop for visitors to slow down, share stories, and connect to the past.
Families will be able to take a wagon ride, learn how to shoot marbles, and compete in a sack race. The Lake Township Historical Society will offer a walking tour and buildings such as Hartville Elevator, The Pantry, and Economy Feed will be open for tours and reminiscing. There is much to discover downtown including a few surprises from Kent State University Master of Architecture students who are focusing on the area this semester
Delicious treats abound from Hartville Lions Club’s famous chicken BBQ to homemade donuts from downtown’s newest shop Peace Love and Little Donuts.
Through a grant from Arts in Stark a folk and bluegrass concert by The Twang Cats will be held in the square. Additionally a dozen vendors will create a marketplace of old fashioned, vintage, and upcycled items.
The community is invited to participate!
- Bring your car to the cruise in
- Bake a pie for Hartville’s Best Pie Contest (slices sold to benefit the Lake FISH food pantry)
- Submit your quilt for exhibit
- Come out and enjoy the festival!
