Local families will enjoy attending an upcoming evening of entertainment featuring Las Vegas-style Illusion, mystery, and comedy coming soon to the United Methodist Church of Uniontown.
The family friendly ‘Smash Magic Tour’ arrives at the Uniontown Church Sunday, April 28, and offersaudiences the chance to see an award winning act with “Lady Houdini” (a.k. a. Kristen Johnson) and illusionist Kevin Ridgeway. Together the two combine moments of ministry and spiritual teaching culminating with a death defying underwater escape performed live in a see-through water tank in full view of the audience.
Johnson recently broke Harry Houdini’s record by completing more than 1,000 underwater escapes during her performances, and is considered by many to be the top female escape artist of our time.
She has also been called one of the top ten escape artists in history, and is the only American woman regularly attempting her dangerous escape from the ‘Water Torture Cell.’ She is only the fifth woman ever to attempt it.
The couple has previously presented their unforgettable act on CNN Headline News, the Discovery Channel, and the Travel Channel, as well as on major television networks in Canada, Europe, Asia, and Japan, where 20 million viewers saw them perform on the Fuji Network. “We want to see people moved to make a difference in the world today,” said Gresham Hill, President of Reach Your City, the event’s sponsor. “Every Smash Magic Tour performance will not just entertain but will inspire everyone who attends to change the world we live in.”
The Smash Tour show starts at 6:30 p.m. April 28 at the Uniontown United Methodist Church, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Pre-sale tickets cost $10 and are being sold at the church office, by church members, and on-line at www.smashmagic.com. A maximum of 350 tickets will be sold, and tickets are selling quickly. Tickets at the door (if available) will cost $12. Please note: no children under 5 may attend the event, so free babysitting will be provided in the church. Children ages 6-10 must also be accompanied by an adult.
The Smash Magic event is being offered as a community outreach event by the church, in hopes that some families seeking a new church home will consider Uniontown UMC. In years past the church has offered another outreach program, a Cruise-In, including local bands, food, and a display of antique and muscle cars.
